There would be so much to tell about Dominic at this point. So many superlatives to report about the last 2 weeks. But the press in Switzerland and around the world did their job and Dominic played his way into the hearts of tennis fans.
Dominic played his way through the qualification (in the 2nd match he even had to fend off a match point) with 3 won matches. Then it continued with wins against A. Popyrin (PB) ATP 40, B. Bonzi, (PB) ATP 42, and of course the four-hour – second round thriller – match against Stefanos Tsitsipas (PB) ATP 3, and then in the round of 16 the defeat after super fight against Taylor Fritz (PB) ATP 5. And if you consider that Dominic had been on the court for about 17 hours at that time and T. Fritz only about 6 hours, then you know that the result 6:7 / 4:6 / 4:6 was simply fantastic. And the whole thing in the Louis Armstrong Stadium, whose 14,000 seats were almost all occupied, in front of the biggest backdrop in his career.
Dominic played in his career so far 3 matches over 5 sets and he could win all of them so far.
Sensational and simply as Dominic said on TV 📺 “I am super happy”.
