Sven Swinnen was Dominic’s coach and companion for the last four years. However, Sven will now be more involved with Swisstennis again and will be responsible for the next generation after Dominic. Therefore Dominic tested several coaches in the last time. Among others, Peter Lundgren, ex-coach of Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka was at his side for three weeks, as well as Dieter Kindlmann, with whom he could celebrate a tournament victory in Rovereto at his first assignment.
Dominic and his team have now decided on Dieter “Didi” Kindelmann. From April 2023 he will take over 100% of Dominic’s job as trainer/coach. Together with the conditioning team of Swisstennis (Marc and Beni) and other people he will make sure that Dominic will be even better prepared for future trainings and tournaments. Team DS is convinced of the cooperation and we are sure that this will be an important step for Dominic’s future. Whether and how a collaboration with Peter Lundgren will look like in the future has not yet been determined.
“Didi” knows what he is talking about. As an ex-professional on the tour (best ATP ranking 130), he was Sharapova’s hitting partner for a long time. After that, he was coach of Mertens, Kerber, Sabalenka, etc., among others, and he also worked as national coach 2021 at Swisstennis. So he knows Switzerland and its training facilities well.
